Summer is fast approaching
Right now I have some very nervous instructor candidates sitting in their PADI instructor exam. I know they will do great as they are as prepared as they can be ,and ready to go into the professional world of scuba diving. With summer fast approaching I know that some of them already have exciting jobs lined up and are eager to get into the water and teach. I am looking at the summer ahead as well and currently working on some fun marine conservation programs.
Summer is a great time to get away, the kids are off of school and many people want to get away. It’s nice to find something educational and different to do so I thought I would put together some fun marine conservation programs. They incorporate scuba diving obviously but with a focus on exploring our underwater world and things you can do to conserve it.
Options for the marine conservation programs
So I have put together two different programs. A one week program and a two week program. Incorporated into the programs we have our marine conservation and research course which looks at ecology of all creatures and corals on the reef. There is also an in depth look at shark ecology and awareness as well as fun workshops and plenty of scuba diving. For the two week program we also do an additional humpback whale module with a whale watching tour. Both programs also have some plastics and pollution workshops.
Clean ups are an important part of trying to conserve our ocean environment. Cleaning up underwater and on the land, we use the data on the trash we collect. This helps with citizen science projects on worldwide pollution and can help combat some of the pollution problems.
What is included in the marine conservation programs?
The marine conservation programs will be running throughout June, July and August and include the following ;
Marine conservation and research certification
Shark Awareness and ecology module
Fish survey dives
Plastics and pollution workshop and clean up
In addition the two week marine conservation program also includes;
Humpback whale conservation workshop and whale watching tour
Coral watch ecology and survey dives
Caño island shark dive
So what are you waiting for? If you want to do something fun over the summer and learn at the same time then come and join me on one of my fun marine conservation programs. Learn about and love the ocean with me in Costa Rica.
If you don’t know how to scuba dive then I can include your certification program at the beginning of the program.
If you don’t dive but still want to get involved then I can also put together a non-diving program for you. Ask today for details.
